Japanese body language

hi everyone..

as we know, sometimes people can understand each other without saying any words, they can understand each other from gestures.

Doriya talked about body language in general, and I enjoyed her presentation a lot, as all of you did. But, today I am going to talk Japanese body language in specific.

No

Waving the hand, thumb towards the face, back and forth as if fanning in short strokes, means no, not me, or no thank you.

Excuse me.

Used when cutting between two people, or as a general apology.

Indicates an angry person

Let's go eat.

Index and middle finger extended in front of mouth to resemble chopsticks, as if shoveling food from the other hand, which is cupped like a bowl

Money.

Fingers in the shape of a coin. Similar to an OK sign, but in Japan it means money.

Me?

A combination hand and facial expression used in the same way as Westerners pointing to their chest and asking "Me?", except the Japanese point to the tip of their nose. This is a very common sign

(You Fool!)" head slap,

It means that you are a silly person

Receiving and giving

Done with two hands, held out in front with a bow, when receiving gifts, rewards and diplomas

(Bowing from the waist)

It shows respect to others.

Now I will show a video about japans body language.

  3. Yea I think that you didn't post the pictures correctly cause I couldn't see them either :S
anyway, I really love the Japanese culture, so I was pleased that you talked about their body language. They do have some moves that we may find weird and funny, but to them, those movements are very common that they use them on a daily bases.
    Nice work Al-Johara ;)

  8. Men and women's Brain
Men may be from Mars and women may from Venus, and since the American psychotherapist John Gray wrote his famous book, in 1992, on this idea; it has been a commonplace to think of men and women as being from different planets in terms of their emotional response. But until recently, these differences were often explained by the action of adult sex hormones, or by social pressures that encouraged males and females to behave in a certain way.
Why Men and Women don’t understand each other?
Men and women show differences in behavior because their brains are physically distinct organs, new research suggests. Male and female brains appear to be constructed from markedly different genetic blueprints. One area of research concerns the brain's pain –suppressing mechanisms, and points to the fact that they may be organized differently in men and women.
What women really mean when they say:-
    YES = they mean NO
    NO = they mean YES
MAYBE = they really mean NO
I don’t Know = they mean YES. And when they say
What men really mean when they say:-
I'm Hungry = it means he is a hungry,
I'm Tired = it means he is tired.
Finally, although this differences in behavior and between men and women, but they are complete each other and all of them has his role in the society.

  9. hello.. i would like to thank you for this presentation, i like how body language differs from one culture to another. I believe that non-verbal communications and body language is even more expressing than verbal communications.
    Thank you!

  10. Salam Alykom Girls,
What am I going to talk about here is something that I really care about which is non-verbal communication. As we all know that language is the human capacity for acquiring and using complex systems of communication. It can be either verbal or non-verbal. In our culture class, Dr.Taiba gave tremendous number of examples explaining how much body language reflects our identity and our culture also. She also added that body language shapes 90% of our language itself! What a number, ha?
Anyway, I chose to speak about Indian culture specially punjabi body language because I really love Indian people, and i will leave you with this video:

    Note:-
If it doesn't work completely, then all you have to do is to download it then play it, ok?
    I'll wait for your comments.
    Have a nice day.
